It sounds like you may not have been getting enough water into the unit and the icemaker was cycling too quickly. If the cubes were hollow this would be the case. Then the ice would still have water in it and would dump into the bin. If the filter is good and the fill tube is not frozen then the issue will most likely be with a faulty icemaker.
