Pat for Model Number GSS25TSRESS From the day I bought this GE new it would not dispense 'cubed ice'. I never called service and now its about 6 years old. I push crushed, crushed ice comes out. I push cubed, and crushed ice comes out! Water and everything else works fine. I recently replaced the motherboard (because of some other failures), but my ice selection is still limited to crushed only (light lights up and dispensed only all crushed).
Answer Hello Pat. You need to check and see if the solenoid assembly in the back of the freezer is lifting to switch between cubed and crushed. If not, and there is power to it, you will need to replace the solenoid assembly WR62X23154. Also, check and see if the shaft for the solenoid is rusted and tight. If so, the solenoid will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
