Ted for Model Number GE refrigerator GSS23WGTA Yesterday when the power to our home went off for about 3-4 hours, then turned back on, the cooling motor in our refrigerator did not turn on, even though the appliance had power (the light turned on when the door was opened). There was a steady ticking noise from the temperature control panel on the freezer door. There was no green light on the control panel. The ice dispenser did not work. We called a service man. Just before he arrived (about 7 hours after the power came back on) the control panel started working again and the cooling motor turned on. The repair man said we needed a new computer unit in the back of the refrigerator - some $300 plus labor, etc. We decided to not get the servicing as everything seemed fine. We paid the man for his house call. he also said we needed a power surge bar for the refrigerator, so we installed one last night. Unfortunately our power went out again early today for 3 hours, then back on. The refrigerator is acting up again - no control panel but a steady ticking noise like a clock. Any ideas? Would you have the new parts if we need them?
Answer Ted, The most likely part that will be needed with the fans not coming back on and the dispenser control not lighting up would be the main control board WR55X10942C. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, January 18, 2016
