Wayne for Model Number EDW4000G00BB When the water valve is told to open it trips the 20A supply breaker immediately. I have traced it down to the connector for the water valve. There are 2 yellow wires and 2 White/Red wires on this connector. About 6" from the connector one of the yellow wires goes into a small round bump. On the other side of this bump the wire is White/Red. It then joins one of the other White/Reds coming out of this same connector (2 White/Reds in and 1 White/Red out). It appears that this "bump" is shorted out, because when I use an ohm meter on this connector, it is showing a direct short. Can you tell me what this device is, and can I buy another one? Thank you
Answer Hello Wayne, This is simply a connection point for the harness to facilitate the manufacturing process. The connection point can be cut out of the harness if there is enough slack and the wires connected directly to the corresponding wires with either wire nuts or crimp connectors. This should correct the short and restore normal operation if no other problems exist. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Wednesday, February 19, 2014
