Answer David, If theres no visible damage to the element WB30X219 and when you raise the cooktop, if there are no visible damage to the wiring to the element, and the attachment screws are tight. you'll need to check or replace the burner selector switch WB24X5011 or the infinite control switch W10900107 If the selector switch is at fault, it is no longer available and will need to be "bypassed" for the element to operate as an 8" element.
