Tom for Model Number GE JP760M1SS Greetings, We have a 50+ year old GE push button stovetop and are looking to replace the 6" and 8" burners with parts WB30X342 & WB30X341, respectively. A local appliance store confirmed that these parts would work. However, the coil pattern is very different on the new burner units. On the old units, the right two wires go to the 2 outside coils and then return in the middle. On the new ones, they alternate (the furthest right coil wraps around before the next wire/coil comes up. Does that make any difference? One of your featured stories on these parts seems to indicate that the coil pattern may affect the performance or installation. Also, is there any significance or difference to the design of the supporting metal frame? Our "calrod" medallion sits in the middle of a triangle. On the newer burner units, the medallion sits on top of an intersecting metal frame. Thanks, Tom
Answer Tom, as the coils are different, the wiring would need to go to the appropriate coil terminal. As the coils are placed differently, this can indeed possibly affect the performance of the coil. In regards to the base frame, if the original frame has a tab that is inserted into the top panel, the new frame would impact installation as well. Read More...
