Stacy, unfortunately, the manufacturer does not list a suitable replacement for the discontinued sensi-temp element WB30X357. As this is the case, we would not be able to recommend an alternative.

John for Model Number J 470006WH 1 5 3 KW

I have a very old GE stove and 2 of the coils have burned out. The stove model number is J 470006WH 1 5 3 KW. I need an 8 inch and 6 inch coil. The standard 2 prong coils from the Hardware store are not compatible. I’ve looked at your website and the parts that look like they may fit are WB30X341 and WB30X342 OR WB30X356 and WB30X354. But when I try to match the stove model number with those part numbers, they don’t come up as a match. Do you have a suggestion on which of these parts numbers OR other part numbers for other coils would work?

1 Answer

Ray, Unfortunately, there will not be an aftermarket element that will be available that we are aware of.

Tom for Model Number GE JP760M1SS

Greetings, We have a 50+ year old GE push button stovetop and are looking to replace the 6" and 8" burners with parts WB30X342 & WB30X341, respectively. A local appliance store confirmed that these parts would work. However, the coil pattern is very different on the new burner units. On the old units, the right two wires go to the 2 outside coils and then return in the middle. On the new ones, they alternate (the furthest right coil wraps around before the next wire/coil comes up. Does that make any difference? One of your featured stories on these parts seems to indicate that the coil pattern may affect the performance or installation. Also, is there any significance or difference to the design of the supporting metal frame? Our "calrod" medallion sits in the middle of a triangle. On the newer burner units, the medallion sits on top of an intersecting metal frame. Thanks, Tom

1 Answer

Tom, as the coils are different, the wiring would need to go to the appropriate coil terminal. As the coils are placed differently, this can indeed possibly affect the performance of the coil. In regards to the base frame, if the original frame has a tab that is inserted into the top panel, the new frame would impact installation as well.

Hi, I have a very old GE electric range that I need to get replacement cooktop elements for. I unfortunately don't have the model number and the range is in another town. I would guess its a 1950s or 1960s range. It has four elements, two are 6" and two are 8". I replaced one of the 6" with GE Part number WB30X356 and it worked perfectly. I was looking at your site for the remaining elements. It looks like WB30X341 would work for one of the 8" elements, but the second 8" element has a large trim ring as the hole is about 10.5" rather than the normal 8.5" for the other 8" element. Do you have a larger trim ring that would work with your 8" element? Thanks Mike

Mike, The manufacturer will not make elements specifically for your unit anymore. You will have to use generic replacements and without a model, we cannot advise on any replacement parts.

Frank for Model Number GE stove JB5000W1AD

I purchased burner WB30X341 to replace original burner X346(original burner no longer made). 341 is 3-wires, 346 is 4-wires. GE says 341 is the replacement for 346. I wired the 341 as follows: connected the 2 hot wires, one each to the separate coil leads, connected the 2 common wires together, screwed onto the remaining lead (which is jumpered to the remaining coil lead), thus connecting 4 wires onto 3 leads of the burner. It works, heats, through the range of LOW-MED-MEDHI-HI, but is not as hot as expected, and not nearly as hot as the other 8" two-lead burner. Also, inner coils on the 341 seems hotter than the outer coils, but both are hot. Anything risky about my connections/wiring? Any thoughts on lower heating level I have observed? FRANK

1 Answer

Frank, This element WB30X341 will not work properly with this as it is a dual element instead of a 4-6-8 element. According to the information that we get from the manufacturer this part was discontinued with no suitable replacement that would work.

I purchased a replacement 8" burner for GE stove JB5000W1AD. It does not exactly precisely fit into the receptacle, comes up a smidge short in length, and also the lead ends of the coils are much flatter crimped, while the OE burner lead ends have a wide tip, making good positive contact. The replacement burner works OK, just have to move burner as far as possible into receptacle to assure contact. Is there a tip I can add on or crimp on to burner leads, to make them a bit longer, but especially a bit wider/fatter, to assure contact is positive all of the time? FRANK

Frank, due to the intense heat of an element, there are no extensions that can be added to an element to make it longer.

Frank, We are showing 2 different elements for the 8" on this unit. The one for the left rear would be part number WB30X219 and if you needed the right front it would be part number WB30X346. The 6" for the left front and right rear is part number WB30X218.
