Steve for Model Number HSS25GFPAWW Came home after dinner and the floor was soaked. No idea what happened. It wasn't yellow so I knew it wasn't the dog. Cleaned it up and sat down to watch TV. Suddenly the Ice maker went off and threw Ice cubes on the floor. Didn't think about the ice maker because they bounced of the tile across the kitchen so the puddle was not near the fridge. Wiggled the dispenser and it stopped but then every 10 minutes or so it just started dispensing ice again even after I pulled out the ice maker bin. Is this just the switch GE WR23X10783 or something more within the circuit board? After pulling the switch its seems to operate okay. I put a resistance meter across it and it seems to open and close normally and yo get the definite click in and out.. I don't understand why it would cycle.
Answer Hello Steve, While this can be caused by a stuck relay, it is more likely a switch. When ice is dispensed into a glass with a drink already in it, it causes the drink to splash into the control area. This causes electrical damage to switches and boards alike. I recommend to open the dispenser area and check the switches WR23X10783. If they test good, replace the control board WR55X10446. Read More...
