Thomas for Model Number ge monogram ziss480d Our refrigerator was not cooling. Our technician replaced the Inverter. It worked for 2 days, then the compressor went dead. Then he replaced the compressor. It worked for 2 days then the compressor became very hot then the refrigerator stopped cooling again. The main board was tested, and J15 is good. There is power into the inverter but no power out to compressor. The compressor coil tested and at 7.1 ohms. Does this mean the compressor is dead? Why did the compressor went hot after it was replaced?
Answer Thomas, Because there is power going into the inverter board but nothing coming out, this would be a bad inverter board. You will want to check to make sure that the condenser fan motor is operational. If not then this could cause the compressor to shut down prematurely. It is possible that the original compressor was faulty and caused the inverter to fail. If this is the case and the same compressor ran off the new inverter for 2 days then this could have damage the new inverter causing it to fail again. Read More...
