Rsarkar for Model Number GE PDS22SBRALSS I have a 14 years old GE fridge PDS22SBRALSS . For the last couple of months the temperature is warm in both the freezer and the fridge. We have cleaned the condensor coils. It seemed to get better but then again got worse in about a week. Then we noticed ice in the freezer and then manually defrosted the fridge. It worked well for about 4 weeks. Again the problem has reappeared. It seems to be a problem with the defrost system. I could not find a defrost timer for it. Could the thermistor be the problem? From what I saw online it said that thermistors on GE fridges from before 2005 had a high rate of failure. Is this the correct thermistor for it? Also how many thermistors does it have? 3 or 4? Thank you, Sarkar
Answer RSarkar, You will want to test the thermistor which is part number WR55X10025 for a resistance at 0 degrees of 42.2K ohms of resistance. If this checks ok then test the defrost heater and defrost thermostat to make sure that they have continuity. If they check good then the issue will be the control board on the unit. Read More...
