Joe for Model Number GE Refrigerator Model TPX24BPDA BB The defrost heater runs about 35 to 45 minutes before turning off. I had replaced the Timer Defrost and Defrost thermostat and the defrost heater still runs over 35 minutes before it shuts off. I am suspecting a faulty Defrost temperature sensor. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated. Thank you -Joe
Answer Joe, you have a mechanical defrost timer that puts the unit into defrost about every 8 hrs. There is a defrost bi-metal that will terminate the circuit to the heater so that it does not overheat. As long as the timer and bi-metal are operating properly I would not be concerned. Read More...
