Chuck for Model Number GNS23GMHBFES My freezer warms up too much on the defrost cycle. The indicator shows is ranging between -5 and 7 degrees but I think it is getting much warmer than that. The ice melts and refreshes with water in the bottom of the ice tray. Ice cream is often very soft. Would replacing the freezer compartment temperature sensor fix this? Could frost or ice on the sensor be a problem and if so would unplugging the machine for a couple of days help?
Answer Chuck, This unit has a sensor on the evaporator coil. This sensor would be the most common reason for the unit to stay in defrost too long and if the sensor does not correct the issue then the control board would be the issue.
