Brad for Model Number GFE28GYNGFS

My refrigerator actual temperature fluctuates and will go higher than the set temp for long periods of time. I verified this with a calibrated thermometer. I had a repair person come out, they plugged in a diagnostic tool and said that all temperatures are reading in range. They did eventually replaced the main board and a blower, but the problem persists. The refrigerator is now out of warranty. I suspect that one of the thermostats is bad, how can I find the thermostat and verify if it is functional?

Answer

Hello Brad, thanks for reaching out to AppliancePartsPros.com The temperature in either section will fluctuate from the set point regularly, as long as the temperature is not staying outside of +/-5 degrees F from the set point it is considered as operating in range. That temperature is also tested in a specific manner. Place a glass or bottle of liquid in the middle of the middle shelf in the fridge section and allow to cool to temperature for several hours with the testing probe of the thermometer placed in it. This model uses thermistors to read the temperature, there should be 2 in the fridge section WR55X10025. One of these will be on the evaporator and the other will be behind the evaporator cover or the air tower.
