Troy for Model Number PDS22SCRBRSS My GE fridge model number PDS22SCRBRSS would not stay cold neither freezer nor fridge section. I unplugged and let it set overnight. While doing so I found the drip pan already full of water. After I plugged it back in, it came on and started getting cold. The compressor is really hot to the touch and it doesn't seem like the condenser fan is powering on. I'm not sure if it's supposed to be constantly running or not. From what I've read, it may be a sensor, but I'm not certain. Any ideas?
Answer Hi Troy. This sounds like a defrost issue.I would use a volt/ohm meter part # MA-DM1 to assist. you in your diagnosis. The defrost thermostat needs to be closed (0 ohms meter reading) during frozen temperatures below 14°. Defrost part # WR50X10047. Un hook the defrost heater and it should be at 102 Ohms cold . Yes the condenser fan part # WR84X10055 runs with the compressor running. There is a control board part # WR55X10942C that gets the temperature constant temperature ratings from a cavity sensor part # WR55X10025. Use the supplied wiring diagram for your unit found in the controls or folded in the front lower kick plate grill. It will give you the diagnostic feature to use so you can get fault codes. It will show you the connection points of the sensor on the J-2 control board connection. This way you can unhook the thermister and check the value there in its normal condition. You can ohm it to check its values (unhooked).IT should be close to 13.2 ohms @ 0°. You can check the output value of the control board in that circuit. You can also follow the wiring diagram to individually check the defrost circuit out put of 120 vac when you force it into Test Mode – Manual Operation/Manual Defrost. To enter the test mode, press ENERGY SAVER and ADJUST REFRIGERATOR pads simultaneously for 8 seconds. The display panel will go blank. Press any pad within 15 seconds to initiate test mode. Let me know of any fault codes found iun diagnostic issues. Thank You. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, March 26, 2012
