Carlos for Model Number GSD3300K55BB

Hello- the timer was sticking on my dishwasher, and the solenoid melted. I replaced the timer and solenoid, the timer part number is WD21X33641. After replacement, upon testing, the solenoid only engages for a short time, and it doesn't drain the last few cups of water from the dishwasher. I also noticed that the machine seems to be 'washing' while the solenoid is in the drain position. At first I thought I had the wrong timer. Please help. Many thanks! Carlos from Crossville.

Answer

Hello Carlos, thank you for contacting APP, I would suspect this as an issue with the Current Sensing Module WD21X23836 or damaged wiring somewhere in the unit not carrying the load very well and tripping the current sensing module. You may try pulling the unit out to access the CSM and take some voltage readings on the incoming and outgoing voltage to see if the voltage is dropping out when the issue occurs with a multimeter if you are comfortable testing live voltage. The Black and White wires should have 120V AC at all times that the unit is connected to power. If you are seeing this voltage drop out under load there may be a connection issue at the terminal block, a power cord issue, or even a source wiring/electrical issue from the home. The Red and White with Orange tracer should also have voltage at all times that the unit is connected to power. If voltage is staying steady on the incoming black and white but is dropping out on the red and white w/ orange when the unit is experiencing the issue then either the CSM is bad or something is causing it to cut out.
