The Timer is an OEM part for GE dishwashers. It controls the duration of the various cycles in the dishwasher, including wash, rinse, and dry cycles. By regulating these time intervals, the timer ensures that each phase of the dishwasher’s operation runs for the appropriate length of time, contributing to efficient cleaning and drying of dishes.

Causes of a bad timer can include electrical issues such as short circuits, worn-out contacts within the timer mechanism, or general wear and tear from regular use. These issues can prevent the timer from accurately controlling the cycle durations.

Symptoms of a bad timer include:

  • Dishwasher not advancing through cycles
  • Cycles running too long or too short
  • Inconsistent cleaning or drying results
  • Dishwasher stopping mid-cycle

This GE replacement part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.

Russell, You will want to check the dispenser timer lever and make sure that it is not stuck in a position that will keep the latch from latching.

Jim, the flood switch WD21X479 and float WD12X445 will need to be checked to ensure that there are no obstructions keeping the float in the up position as well as testing to ensure that the switch has continuity when pressed (with voltage supply off). If these test good, then the most likely issue would be in the timer WD21X33641.

Tim for Model Number GSC3500D35WW

Dishwasher shows no sign of life. It just stopped toward the end of the cycle and now it will not do anything. My dishwasher has 2 door switches. I have tested them both and they seem to be fine. My AC voltage Detector says that I have power in the wires coming to the door switches when machine is plugged into the wall outlet. At the wall outlet I have the proper voltage via my multimeter. Does that only leave the timer as the possible problem? Is there any way to test the timer? This machine is only 2 years old. Thanks

Tim, You could check to make sure that you are getting power to the timer but based on the information that was provided I sounds like the timer would be the issue with the unit.
