Answer

Hello Sherm, The only thing that can cause this is an over soap situation. Two main causes would be use of non-high efficiency detergent and too much detergent. The high efficiency detergent will not suds like the "top load" detergent. Plus, as per the manufacturer, a normally soiled load should only get 1 tablespoon of the high efficiency detergent. It is a universal belief that if a little does good, a lot will do great. Unfortunately, this is simply not true. The fact of the matter is that whatever is added has to be rinsed away. In a high efficiency machine, you only fill with about 7 to 9 gallons per fill. In comparison to a top load machine which fills with 17 to 22 gallons per fill. So it is easy to see why the top load machine can rinse away more detergent. This is why you cannot use as much detergent in a high efficiency machine. To quote the service manual: Is a low-sudsing detergent used? Is the proper amount of detergent used as recommended? Recommend to reduce the correct amount of detergent. Is liquid laundry product put in the correct compartment of the dispenser? Explain the proper use of liquid laundry products.
