The Grease Filter is an OEM replacement part for LGmicrowaves. It plays a vital role in capturing grease, smoke, and odors generated during cooking, ensuring cleaner air in the kitchen. Regular cleaning or replacement of the microwave grease filter is essential for maintaining optimal airflow, filtration performance, and preventing potential fire hazards.

Causes of a bad grease filter include excessive use without proper cleaning, exposure to high temperatures or grease splatters, or simply reaching the end of its lifespan due to regular wear and tear.

Symptoms of a clogged or defective microwave grease filter:

  • Reduced airflow or suction from the microwave ventilation system
  • Unpleasant cooking odors lingering in the kitchen
  • Visible buildup of grease or grime on the filter or surrounding areas
  • Clogged or obstructed air vents or ductwork

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore microwaves.

Hello Orlando, The damper 4900W1A001B goes in the adaptor that mounts on the outside of the unit at the vent outlet. It is only needed if the unit is vented to the outside of the home. There are two screws already in place that have to be removed to install it. The damper prevents a great majority of outside air from blowing back into the home through the vent. The filters are sold separately so if you need both, you will need to order two. They simply slip into the slots and part way back so they hook on the ledge on the other side. You will want to make sure the loop is down so it will be easier to remove for cleaning. These can be run through the dishwasher if needed. If your unit has a charcoal filter, it cannot be run through the dishwasher.
