It ensures the machine operates efficiently and effectively by providing accurate data to the control board.

Causes of a bad sensor assembly can include wear and tear from regular use, exposure to water and detergents, electrical malfunctions, or damage from impact. A faulty sensor assembly can lead to incorrect readings, which can affect the washing machine’s performance and lead to issues such as improper water levels or unbalanced loads.

Symptoms of a bad Sensor Assembly include:

  • Incorrect water levels during cycles
  • The washing machine stopping mid-cycle or not completing cycles
  • Error codes related to water level or load balance
  • The machine failing to start or operate correctly

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore models.

Gary for Model Number LG WM2487HWMA

Hello, l have a LG WM2487HWMA washer. It has a problem spinning the drum. The problem started with the drum rocking back and forth, then it would start spinning. This problem ended up making control board at the back of the washer go bad. (No power to the front panel). After the control board was replaced the problem is now that it has a jerky motion when spinning. The resistance of the coils for the stator, on the 3 pin connector, are 1-2 7.7ohm, 2-3 7.7 ohm, 1-3 7.8 ohm Could this be a problem with the position sensor?

Answer

Gary, Thanks for the question!!! It is likely that the drum flange assembly 4434ER0002H has broken. This is typically easy to identify by opening the door of the machine and pushing on the stainless drum. If the drum wiggles separately from the outer tub then the spider arm has failed and needs to be replaced. Typically a sensor issue would not cause jerky motion. The motion is typically caused by unbalance, which with the broken arm allows the drum to drop out of the center.
