The Sensor Assembly is an OEM part for LG washing machines. This component is crucial for detecting and monitoring various conditions within the washing machine, such as water level, temperature, and load balance. It ensures the machine operates efficiently and effectively by providing accurate data to the control board.

Causes of a bad sensor assembly can include wear and tear from regular use, exposure to water and detergents, electrical malfunctions, or damage from impact. A faulty sensor assembly can lead to incorrect readings, which can affect the washing machine’s performance and lead to issues such as improper water levels or unbalanced loads.

Symptoms of a bad Sensor Assembly include:

  • Incorrect water levels during cycles
  • The washing machine stopping mid-cycle or not completing cycles
  • Error codes related to water level or load balance
  • The machine failing to start or operate correctly

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore models.

Knl for Model Number LG Model # WM8000HVA

I got the LG error code indicating the sensor likely needs replacement. I pulled the part out. The part itself says it's part # 6501KW2002A on the top line. On the line below it also says: MDT160107RoHS. Is the part you're selling ( 6501KW2002B ) a proper fitting replacement part for my original part that I just pulled out? If it does not click onto the stator and fit properly, is there an option to return it? Also, I've seen some Amazon vendors selling replacement parts for the 6501KW2002A but people complaining that these fail within just 6 months. Of course, hopefully yours are better quality, but if this happens what is the return policy? Thank you.

Debra Z, The error code "LE" means the tub fails to spin. This issue could be as simple as the machine has been overloaded or a foreign object has become hung between the tubs...clothing...etc. It could also be from damage to the tub shaft/spider assembly or this could also be a motor/stator issue and/or a control issue. Further diagnostics will be necessary starting with does the tub turn freely by hand.

Gary for Model Number LG WM2487HWMA

Hello, l have a LG WM2487HWMA washer. It has a problem spinning the drum. The problem started with the drum rocking back and forth, then it would start spinning. This problem ended up making control board at the back of the washer go bad. (No power to the front panel). After the control board was replaced the problem is now that it has a jerky motion when spinning. The resistance of the coils for the stator, on the 3 pin connector, are 1-2 7.7ohm, 2-3 7.7 ohm, 1-3 7.8 ohm Could this be a problem with the position sensor?

1 Answer

Gary, Thanks for the question!!! It is likely that the drum flange assembly 4434ER0002H has broken. This is typically easy to identify by opening the door of the machine and pushing on the stainless drum. If the drum wiggles separately from the outer tub then the spider arm has failed and needs to be replaced. Typically a sensor issue would not cause jerky motion. The motion is typically caused by unbalance, which with the broken arm allows the drum to drop out of the center.

Gashaw, Check the rotor and stator for damage and check the wiring to make sure that the wiring between the board and the RPS sensor is good. If this is good then it could be an issue with the bearings starting to fail or the control board being faulty.

James, You will want to check the rotor and stator for damages. If they are not damaged then check the wiring between the RPS sensor and the control board and if it is good replace the control board.

Dennis, The RPS sensor for your unit would only have 1 set of connectors because the stator will have another set to run power through.

Haitham, This issue would most likely be caused by either the stator or the RPS sensor. The part that you would need is 4417EA1002K which has the RPS sensor built into it.

Shenouda Keriacous for Model Number Wt7700hva

Washer won’t finish full cycle , stops completely with 5 to 8 minutes left on the screen. When it stops I can’t turn it on again without having to reset and remove the power cord for few minutes. When I attempt spin cycle only it works sometimes but recently it will stop at 5 minutes and shut down and start lots of beeping as if I am pressing on and off buttons continuously. I have changed drain assembly and also control board. Not sure what else could be the cause? When I run smart diagnostics, shows everything is functioning normally.

1 Answer

Shenouda, Make sure that the unit is not getting off-balance as this could be the potential cause for the unit to stop. Also, check to make sure that the pressure hose is not clogged which would cause the unit to not be able to go into the spin cycle.

I replaced rotor because of LE error code and when I removed it I found teeth to be laying in rotor and all seem to be missing. After I installed new rotor I got machine to finally run without getting LE error code and running what seemed to be nicely but when rinse cycle started it started making clanking noise sound like teeth weren’t engaged correctly followed by LE error code. Could this mean I also now need a rotor position sensor replaced?

1 Answer

Brian W., I would check to make sure the rotor and stator are in securely, it sounds like the bolt has become loose or back out causing the rotor to be loose-fitting.
