Causes of a bad water level pressure switch can include electrical malfunctions, damage to the pressure sensor, or blockages in the air tube connected to the switch.

Symptoms of a bad water level pressure switch include:

  • The washer overfilling or underfilling with water
  • Inconsistent water levels during different cycles
  • Error codes related to water levels
  • The washer not progressing through cycles properly

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore models.

Matt Romney for Model Number WM2101HW

My washer intermittently is displaying OE. I have cleaned the drain filter and tubing and tested the pump. The pump appears to be running fine. The problem seems to be that the washer will actually drain all the water but does not proceed to the next cycle. What tells the control panel that all the water is drained and it is time to move on? Could the water pressure sensor be bad? What actually tells the control panel that water is not draining? If I cut power to the washer, it tends to clear the error and will work for several wash cycles but eventually the OE error returns.

Answer

Matt R, Based on the information provided I would recommend using a washer cleaner such as "Affresh" and clean the machine a couple of times, then make sure you are using "HE" detergent and only the minimal amount. It sounds as if the machine has a build-up of suds and the pressure switch thinks there is still water in the machine. If the cleaning doesn't clear the issue you may have to replace the pressure switch.
