The Door Switch is an OEM part for LG refrigerators. It is responsible for detecting whether the refrigerator door is open or closed, allowing the appliance to control the interior light and, in some models, the cooling functions accordingly.

Causes of a bad door switch can include wear and tear from frequent use, electrical issues, or physical damage to the switch mechanism. A faulty door switch can lead to improper operation of the refrigerator's light or cooling system, affecting overall performance.

Symptoms of a bad door switch include:

  • Interior light not turning on or off properly
  • Refrigerator not cooling properly or running continuously
  • Door alarm not functioning correctly
  • Intermittent or unresponsive switch operation

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore.

Answer

Hi Linda. Remove power.Examine the new switch to compare instructions. There are 2- mount tabs that purposely push out right behind the panel where it is installed. You can take a plastic putty knife under the front sides to push in and release the inner mount tabs. Push one in and gently pry one side out. Hold this with one finger and then do the same with the other side. With the switch in hand, use a small screwdriver to release the wiring connector terminal locking clip and pull back on the terminal case. This will release the wire clip from the switch body. It will only plug in one way as it is formed that way. The switch is part # 6600JB3007E. Thank You.
