Doug C. for Model Number DV338AEW/XAA-0000 Purchased new about 5 years ago. Old house had short exhaust and noticed lint outside. New house has longer exhaust and had to have exhaust line cleaned. In 5 months we noticed the clothes taking longer to dry and we found our screen outside was clogged with lint. We clean the dryer screen after every use and it's just the wife and myself. It looks to me like the screen on the dryer allows lint to get by. P/N is DC61-02613A screen however in the store I noticed Samsung added a baffle to the new screens (thus trapping/reducing) lint blow-by. P/N DC97-16013A. Thanks
Answer Hello Doug, The lint screen is designed to catch the larger lint particles and there will always be some lint that escapes past the screen. The smaller particles should be carried out of the ducting by the air flow. It is common for the screen on the outside wall to clog when not periodically cleaned. I strongly recommend the use of a flapper door design and do not use the outside screen since it is easily forgotten about until there has been a failure of the dryer. Removing it prevents restriction of the air flow which will let the clothes dry faster saving energy and wear and tear on the appliance. Read More...
