Hello Holly, thank you for contacting APP, The breaker tripping issue may be defrost-related or source electrical-related. The easiest way to test this is to plug the unit in on an extension cord run to a dedicated outlet, an outlet with no other outlets or other loads such as lighting on the breaker for it, that is non-GFCI on a non-AFCI/GFCI breaker if possible and see if the issue continues. You may also try testing the unit by putting it on a surge protector with a resettable switch. These are for testing purposes only and we cannot suggest to leave the unit connected to power in this manner once testing has been completed. If the breaker tripping issue goes away I would suspect a source electrical issue such as a weak breaker, interference between a GFCI outlet or AFCI/GFCI Breaker and the unit, or wiring issues in the home, in which case I would recommend to contact a licensed electrician. If the issue continues when being tested as described above, I would suspect that the unit is tripping the breaker when it goes into Defrost.
