Alan for Model Number RF24FSEDBSR/AA-0000 The area immediately above the evaporator, to the right of where the fan is, keeps freezing up, over and over again. The freezing up spreads sideways and then causes the fan to make a noise as it hits the ice build-up. I saw a Samsung bulletin that said to move the sensor to the other pipe to the left of the current position. I tried this and it made no difference. Should I move it back? Is the ice build-up problem because the sensor is not working or a known design flaw or some other problem? If it could be the sensor, how do I test it? One last question, to move the sensor, I had to remove some black pitchy material, which I couldn't put back on the sensor in the new location. Is this stuff important, and if so, what should I replace it with? Thank you
Answer Hello Alan, The black stuff is for sound dampening only and is not important. The sensor should be fine as long as it is to the left of the line. The icing you describe sounds more like a sealed system restriction than a sensor issue. I would recommend having a Freon certified technician check the unit for proper operation. Read More...
