Answer Larry, First thing, remove power to the range. Visually inspect the element, check for any cracks,missing or melted carborundum coating on the element. Remove the screws from the stainless steel mounting plate, slide the element out enough to access the wire terminals of the harness, and disconnect the wires, you may want to use a clip of some type, to keep the wires from falling back into the oven rear panel. Using a multi meter, and with the meter probes across the two element terminals, you should expect to see 20 to 22 ohms resistance on the meter display.
