Msubully82 for Model Number RS6755XYW Whirlpool RS6755XYW, oven started not heating all the way. Set to 500 and only got up to about 300. Element is being switched on and off, as though it is sensing oven temp. incorrectly. Adjusted the "oven temperature control" via special menu. Was set to +5; I set it to max of +35. After that, oven would heat to 450 when set to 500. Element was nice and red during heating. Removed temperature sensor, Whirlpool # 8053344. Measured 1083 ohms at room temperature. Can the sensor be bad even if room temp. measurement is good? What else could it be?
Answer MSUbully82, It is possible that the oven sensor can be defective even though it shows good at room temp. You will want to reattach the oven sensor and test it with the oven on. Check the sensor and for every 1 degrees that the oven rises you would add 2 ohms of resistance. So for example, if you set the oven temp to 350 you should get a resistance reading when at that temperature of approximately 1629 ohms of resistance. Read More...
