John, If room allows, the easiest way is to remove power to the washer, turn off the water supply, and move the washer out as far as possible, then lean it back against the wall, and have someone watch the machine or block up the front so you can work on it from underneath. disconnect the wire harness from the shifter assembly. Remove the two(2) mounting screws(flat blade screw driver). remove the arm from the shifter lever and drop the assembly from the transmission case. Reverse the procedure and test the washer for operation.
