Cindy for Model Number WTW5500XW3 My top load Cabrio didn't spin a load of clothes. Tried to reset to spin, lock light comes on, seems to try, then stops and lid lock unlocks. Repairman came, said it was mode shifter. When he changed it and turned it on, it made a super high screeching noise. Repairman said noise must have been building for at least 6 months as it was a very expensive bearing that had to be replaced. Here is my problem, the machine never made any noise like that before he turned it on. He insists that it must have been making a noise and that i was not being honest. The machine was not making any noise prior to it not working. Could the repairman have broken the machine? He lifted it up from the front, putting it on about a 30 degree slant.
Answer Cindy, Tilting the unit up at a 30 degree angle would not cause the unit to make a screeching or grinding type noise. It would be more likely that he did not get the splutch assembly on the unit aligned properly when reinstalling it. This would be what needs to be checked. Read More...
