Cathy

I have a Kenmore washer model 110 20022012. It has been really actting up. I did a diagnostic test on it and got codes F7E1, F7E7 and F8E1. The lid locks when you start it then it try to take off and the lid light will start flashing. Sometimes it will work if you keep restarting it. It started actting up by the water just running and doing nothing else. Then if you would cancel the cycle and put it on drain and spin and let it run that cycle. You could put it back in wash mode and it would wash. But now it's really throwing a fit. I checked the wiring and made sure everything was plugged in.

Answer

Cathy, Based on your error codes and description you have a couple of things to check. Make sure the standpipe/drain pipe,is at least 39-40 inches above the floor. A low standpipe can cause the washer to "siphon" and create the F8 E1 error code. The F7 E1 and F7 E7 indicate an issue with the Shift actuator WPW10006355 / W10006355. Basically the sensor isn't producing the signal to the main control board, and the control senses that the motor isn't spinning at the proper RPM. A faulty sensor in the actuator can also cause lid lock issues. Re check the wiring between the actuator and the control board, if all's OK replace the actuator.
