Bennie More of an observation than a question. Why are there so many bad actuators on these Whirlpool washers? Also I repairmen offered to trade out my six-year-old Whirlpool sensing machine for an Amana that is $300 because he said the actuator and labor to change it was $180. But when I look at the videos it doesn't seem like it's much of a job to change the actuator. Kind of sounds like a scam to take and re- sell my better washer. What do you think? I really dislike that these new washers have control over all of the movements instead of me being in control, and would rather have the old style but they really do a great job of cleaning! Thanks.-- Bennie
Answer Bennie, Replacing the shift actuator does not take much effort. You simply lean the unit back and remove 2 screws over the cover and then 2 screws holding in the actuator. Remove the actuator and unplug it and install the new one in reverse. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Saturday, June 16, 2018
