Raymond for Model Number GD2SHAXLB00 My frozen food side is about 18 degrees F, but the fresh foods side has trouble getting below 50 degrees, and even after letting it alone for 24 hours it was only 46 degress. This is with the cold setting at 5 and the freezer setting at the warmest. Changing the freezer setting does open and close the doors in the diffuser. I ran hot water through the air return, and when I plugged in the unit again the defrost kicked on clearing all of the frost on the coils in the freezer side. The fan on the freezer side is running and blowing the air about what I would expect. The air flow through the diffuser doesn't seem effected by having the freezer door open or close. However, the air flow seems less than I would expect. Would this be the diffuser that is bad?
Answer Raymond, If the evaporator coils were completely impacted with ice then it would be a defrost issue and you would want to do a continuity test of the defrost heater and thermostat and if either do not have continuity then it is bad. If there is a even frost pattern then you will want to pull the damper assembly and check to make sure that it is opening and closing. Read More...
