Frank I for Model Number maytag washer MVWC6ESWW started wash cycle,odd gear strip type noise from dial area upon turning knob to start cycle. then noticed w/machine stopped after about 6-7 minutes. water in tub,appeared clothes did agitate. after pushing in and out on dial knob and moving it to various positions it started to work then it stopped after rinse cycle. I pushed in and out on dial knob then spin cycle started. it appears that anytime i moved main knob to a different position it starts to work. Machine is 13 years old. Any help would be appreciated.
