The Temperature Switch is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool front-load washing machines. Located inside the unit, it monitors water temperatures during heating cycles.

Causes of a bad temperature switch can include failure or drift of internal components that monitor heat over extended use. Exposure to fluctuations in water temperatures during wash cycles may also impact switch performance.

Symptoms of a bad temperature switch can be:

  • Inability to heat water to set temperatures
  • Unexpected fluctuations in water temperature during cycles

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore front-load washing machines.

Kevin, With the pressure hose being clear then this issue would be caused by a faulty Auto temp sensing switch WPW10248240 as the pressure switch is built into it.

Jim, With the motor humming you will want to double check connections at the timer but also check the motor coupler as this would be the most likely cause for the unit to not agitate or spin and the motor hum. Also check wiring between the timer and motor to ensure that there are not loose or damaged wires.

Hello Alan. Under the front corners of the control panel are clips. You will need to use a flat blade and press them in to release the clips and flip the control panel backwards. Thank you.
