Karin for Model Number KBMC147HSS I have been noticing a faint burning smell for over 1 week now when heating anything in microwave for more than 1 minute. today it finally stopped heating...I noticed that the fan in back of unit does not run...could that have to do with it not heating or is it the diode, transformer or capacitor? Please help... Karin
Answer Karin, The diode would not likely be the cause of the unit not heating. You will want to test the magnetron which should have a resistance reading of less than 1 ohm. If not or reads open then the magnetron is bad and would need to be replaced. You will also want to test the capacitor. When testing the capacitor you should get a reading that drops off. If these check ok then the most likely cause would be a bad transformer. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Friday, August 16, 2013
