Glenn for Model Number WTW 5200 VQ2 Our fancy front loader expensive machine (NOT Whirlpool!) died so we decided to try an older direct drive machine (Whirlpool top loader) since our experience with one like it in the past did a fine job. The model we got appears to have NO lint filter or trap. I had gone ahead and ordered a set of lint "traps" for under agitator as well as a new top cap. Found there no "lint trap plugs" only small vent like slits 1/2" inch or so. Called tech, got GREAT customer service, but tech was unsure if machine had lint filter. After much investigation, operator said she believed NO lint filters on this model. She suggested doing smaller loads and running a solution of b. soda/vinegar first, did that. Did smaller loads, appears better with less lint, but still wondering if there is a hidden lint filter on this machine. Thanks
Answer Glenn, The WTW5200VQ2 washer does not have a "hidden" lint trap in the washer, and the spin basket/tub is not designed to have the "washer filter plug" kit either, only slots under the agitator to circulate the water up into the tub. If the washer is loaded properly, the proper amount and type of detergent is used, the lint from the clothing should "float" to the top of the tub, during the pause between the cycles and when the tub starts to spin, the lint and water will be forced to the side and the water and lint will be extracted through the openings and down the drain through the pump. At one point there was a "Drain Protector" 367031 to collect the lint, strings buttons etc. but it is no longer available from the manufacturer. You may be able to find something similar at the hardware store or home improvement center. Thanks, Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, December 30, 2019
