John for Model Number 10656566400 I recently purchased a control panel (WPL 8201660) from you to fix my freezer which was not defrosting. I also replaced the bi-metal to make sure it was not bad. After installing these new parts my freezer continues to freeze up without the defrost heater coming on. The refrigerator compressor seems to never shut off as it should when in the defrost mode. My question is, could the control panel I purchased from you be defective as my old one was where the defrost timer is not working or is there some switch not working to turn on the defrost heater? I thought the defrost timer in the control panel was to control the defrost heater being on or off. I understand there is a diagnostic test I can perform by holding the on/off switch and holding the filter status reset switch. Is this a valid test to test my defrost heater?
Answer Hello John, Yes this is a valid test that you could do to check the operation of the defrost heater. If you have access to the wiring diagram underneath the kick plate it will also tell you how to put into forced defrost. There is also a possiblity that the board may have beed faulty. Read More...
