Doug H. January 08, 2015 for Model Number 10655539400 The refrigerator side not cooling properly so I replaced the diffuser and everything seemed to be working ok for a few days. Then it stopped cooling the refrigerator properly again. I found the freezer coil frozen over also coils on bottom of refrigerator very dirty so I cleaned them. I found out bi metal switch on freezer was bad. I replaced everything seems ok but the freezer coils are frosted over again. used diagnostic code six to manually defrost freezer coils. that work fine once it defrosts for a period of time the feeezer fan turns on . I think it maybe the control board because I cant find defrost timer. Thanks
Carol July 15, 2014 for Model Number 106.55529400 The refrigerator's control panel is completely blank (dark no lights)and the refrigerator and freezer has started to defrost. Does this sound like it's the control panel that has broke?
1 Answer Hello Carol. You will need to test for power to the control board. If there is power there, and it does not work, it is bad. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Len April 26, 2013 for Model Number Whirlpool Main Control Board 8201660 I installed the Whirlpool Main Control Board 8201660 and it is blinking and will not reset. Is there a reset sequence I can enter to get the board to work. It is flashing O and 37
1 Answer Len, There is no reset sequence for the control board on this unit. You could try to power off and power back on via the control panel but the panel should not start blinking at start. Read More...
Lisa February 15, 2013 for Model Number 106.56566400 I have purchased a new control board for my frig/freezer. Part # 8201660. The old control board has a long piece and a shorter piece that are at right angles with each other. The new board is flat and has not been bent at right angles...required in order to put back in the control board housing unit. My question is, how do I cut or break the plastic connections of these 2 pieces in order to bend them - without damaging the new control board circuitry? I have digital pictures of both the old and new control boards should you want to look at them. Thank You for your help. Lisa
1 Answer Hello Lisa, You would just break the 2 pieces apart. The pieces are held together by the fiberglass that the board is made of. You would just break them and adjust them to the proper postion. Read More...
John January 17, 2013 for Model Number 10656566400 I recently purchased a control panel (WPL 8201660) from you to fix my freezer which was not defrosting. I also replaced the bi-metal to make sure it was not bad. After installing these new parts my freezer continues to freeze up without the defrost heater coming on. The refrigerator compressor seems to never shut off as it should when in the defrost mode. My question is, could the control panel I purchased from you be defective as my old one was where the defrost timer is not working or is there some switch not working to turn on the defrost heater? I thought the defrost timer in the control panel was to control the defrost heater being on or off. I understand there is a diagnostic test I can perform by holding the on/off switch and holding the filter status reset switch. Is this a valid test to test my defrost heater?
1 Answer Hello John, Yes this is a valid test that you could do to check the operation of the defrost heater. If you have access to the wiring diagram underneath the kick plate it will also tell you how to put into forced defrost. There is also a possiblity that the board may have beed faulty. Read More...
Ron November 06, 2012 Can I use part # 8201661 instead of 8201660 control for model # 10666566400. The problem is ice maker not working/water valve on power to dispenser water to ice maker.
1 Answer Hello Ron, These parts are model specific and should not be interchanged. There may be unnoticable differences in the board 8201660 and you should use the recommended board for unit. Read More...
1 Answer Hello Ernest, Yes this works as the defrost timer. When the refrigerator enters defrost mode, this board sends power to the heater. Hope this helps. Read More...
