Sonia for Model Number CAWS953RQ0 Top agitator spins freely. Had service man come out to replace agitator dogs. The bolt holding it in had corroded and when he tried to remove it, the top broke off. He said it should have been a SS bolt. Packed up and said good luck fixing it! Paid him $50. Found your website, what a blessing. Watched one video, thought I could just pull out entire agitator, wrong washer. (Ha!!!) Looks like I will still need to get the bolt out to replace the dogs or whole agitator assemble. Any suggestions?
Answer Sonia, you have a direct drive washer, it is a well-made washer and would be worth fixing if you wish to keep it. You will have to drill out the bolt that was broken off. Once the bolt is drilled out, you can remove the agitator. At this point, the threads in the shaft of the gearcase are probably ruined and the gearcase would need to be replaced. If you want to keep it, replace the clutch and all the parts associated with the drive system. If you can get the bolt out without ruining the gearcase shaft, you then can replace the agitator dogs and replace the bolt. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Wednesday, March 25, 2020
