Mike for Model Number GD5PHAXMS10 I recently purchased a new ice maker assembly (AP3182733) after a plastic bag got caught up in the old ice maker and it stopped making ice. After the install still not making ice and now I think it might be the sensor. Is there a way for me to check if it is working properly so I can be sure prior to ordering the part?
Answer Mike, Yes, there is a way to test the I/R sensor system. First make sure the I/R system switch is in the "on" position and close the door, and wait for 1 minute. Open the freezer door, and observe the LED lamp on the right wall assembly, LED flashes twice / followed by a 1 second delay, indicates the I/R beam is blocked or there is a fault in the optics system. If there is no light at all, The ice maker could be in a harvest mode, or there is a fault in the sensor system. Press in on the emitter flapper on the left wall, if the LED pulses twice followed by a 1 second delay, the optics are still faulty. The LED is on solid optics system checks OK. This test is approximately 90% accurate, so if problem persists replace the sensor board kit W11629974. Good Luck and Thanks Read More...
