Karen for Model Number 106.56566400 Some of the ice seems to be missing the collection bin and falls to the bottom of the freezer. When you open the door, ice falls out onto the floor. There's still plenty of ice in the bin, but NOT overflowing. What could be the problem?
Answer Hi Karen. Is the ice bin sitting fully on the inner door area? If it is mis - cocked it will have this issue. You said the bin is not overflowing. It is good to know that you cycle the ice maker on/off to use the full bin and then turn it back on when you are half way empty. Remove the bin and save the wanted ice in a separate bowl. Tape the fzr. door shut. Insert a glass in the paddle area. Open the door and see if your auger motor is working up to speed when activated for ice. Does it reverse directions between crush and cube ? Is the chute flapper fully opening or hanging up half way ? The auger motor is part # WP2252129. The ice chute kit is part # W10823377. The ice chute should not show any flashlight as it is pointed up into the front of the chute up into the ice maker area. Observe with the door open and you are looking down back at the chute area. The flapper not closing fully will allow outside moist air back up into the chute opening ,up into the cube cutter blades and jamming with frost, ice build up. This stops all normal operations as if the door was not fully shut. Clear all frost/ice build up. Clean the chute area and make sure the flapper shuts fully. Thank You. Read More...
