Winston for Model Number GX5FHDXVY00 Our 4 year Whirlpool Gold Fridge stop working, I checked to make sure the compressor cooling grates were clear and clean of dirt. At closer inspection I found some black substance sprayed against the wall behind the fridge and a black thin crystallized substance in the water overall tray under the compressor and fan unit. As well a very faint bit of oil could be detected. Now all I get is a clicking noise either from the compressor or start relay. I fear the compressor may be shot? Any help would be appreciated.
Answer Winston, You will want to check to make sure that there are no signs of oil on the tubing or on the compressor itself. If there is then you may have a refrigerant leak. For the start relay, it sounds like the relay has burnt out and would need to be replaced. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Tuesday, July 30, 2013
