Bernadette, Any sealed system can be recharged. There is special valve that have to soldered into place for the freon to be charged into. On this compressor there are 3 lines, the high side (discharge line), the low side (suction line) and the process stub. It's the process stub where the charging valve would be soldered on to. Hopefully you have all the equipment to do a sealed system job. It requires, torches, pressure gauges, vacumn pump, charging gauge, and by law the old freon has to be captured. If you are having a qualified tech doing the repair, he should have all of the above along with the charging valve, it's part of doing a sealed system job.

Hi Bernadette. Yes this compressor kit part # W10160407 needs charged by a certified sealed system appliance repairman. It is a complicated process of charging the low side after the systems moisture is completely gone and the unit can hold a vacuum for sometime. I cannot explain the complete process. It normally takes a couple of hours. Thank You.
