Tim for Model Number MED9700SQ0 Dryer heating element stays on glowing, on all heat levels including air dry. As I understand it the element should cycle on and off maintaining a +/- 20 degree while running and not come on at all during air dry mode. I recently changed out the thermal fuse which would not allow my dryer to turn on. I also replaced the thermostat on the blower housing beside it. I have also ensured the venting was not clogged or restricted, (good to go). Heating element has continuity. Heating element is not grounded out. High end thermostat has continuity I am trying to get to the root cause of the thermal fuse blowing. which leads me to watch the heating element while the lower cover was removed, Observation: coils glow while the dryer is on at all time. These coils do not cycle off and on as I would assume they should. Once the dry cycle is complete and shuts off the heating element will shut off also. Tim
Answer Hello, Tim. Unplug the dryer, get to the main control board under the top panel on the side. Remove the BLK and RED wires from the big heat relay and using a meter check between those two relay terminals for continuity. If there is continuity - the relay is bad and you need to replace the main control board (p/n AP6013143) that is listed as no longer available. If you look on line, you may find some used ones. Thank you. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, May 11, 2020
