Scott for Model Number 110.85081400 My Kenmore (by Whirlpool) dryer will not start. The control panel recognizes all of the normal inputs, but when you select "start", you hear the solenoid "click" and then it won't do anything. You have to hit cancel twice to get it to reset. We tested the Thermal Fuse and it appears to be fine. The door latch sensor also appears to be functioning normally. Is there a common part that I should look at buying, rather than buying an entire new panel? Can I return a control panel if the new one doesn't solve the problem? Thank you!
Answer Hello Scott! Check and see if you are getting power from the board to motor. You can check this with a mulimeter. If it is then you have a bad motor, if it is not you will need to replace the control board. The controls come in different colors: 280100 is white, WP8558763 is pacific blue, WP8558764 is champagne, WP3980639 is sedona. The motor is part number 279787. Hope this helps! Read More...
