Robert Mason for Model Number Kitchenaid KUDIO1FLSS2 My Dishwasher when turned on began smoking and an electrical short ensued. I opened up the door assembly and checked the 8564543 Controller Board, the (T) Tan terminal was completely burned and there is a black hole in the 8564543 Controller where the (T) terminal was. Also the Tan wire that leads to the door switch is scarred and burned and the black terminal connector is partially melted. Is this a complete failure or just a door switch problem, or a failed motor? I know I will need to order a new 8564543 Controller and a door switch, should I check anything else, like the motor or the fill valve for replacement? Any ideas what caused this failure, and what parts I need to order, or just give up and buy a new Dishwasher?
Answer Robert, You can test the door switch to make sure that it is good and if it is then it sounds likely that it was just a loose connection at the control board that caused this issue and will need to replace the control board.
