Larry for Model Number Maytag MMV6178AAS My Maytag MMV6178AAS has an internal (cavity) light that illuminates when the door is open and when the oven is operating. The light recently stopped working. I changed the bulb; however, now the bulb remains illuminated under all conditions. I am not able to extinguish the light under any circumstances, but largely because there is no external control. Does this Door Interlock Switch (Part #AP3109474) control the operation of that cavity lamp? If so, I will place an order. Also, can you identify the halogen lamp in that light with a part number? The bulb I bought to replace it appears to be much lower wattage. Thank you in advance.
Answer Larry, After reviewing the schematic for your model the light is controlled thru a relay on the main control board. Unfortunately, this item has been discontinued by the manufacturer and no substitute has been offered. At this point, there is no fix so the bulb will eventually burn out. My advice is to use it until it will not heat anymore then you will have to replace. Read More... Answered by AppliancePartsPros.com | Monday, December 31, 2018
