Manufacturer Part Number: WPW10192799

The Pump Filter is an OEM part for Whirlpool dishwashers. This part is strategically designed to trap and filter out food particles, debris, and other substances that could clog the dishwasher's pump and drainage system.

A bad Pump Filter can result from debris buildup, wear and tear, and structural damage. This can hinder water flow, reduce cleaning efficiency, and compromise particle trapping ability.

Symptoms of a malfunctioning Pump Filter include:

  • Poor cleaning results, as clogged filters can impede water flow and reduce the dishwasher's effectiveness.
  • Water not draining properly, potentially leading to water pooling at the bottom of the dishwasher.
  • Unusual noises from the dishwasher, which can indicate that the pump is working harder than normal to circulate water through a clogged filter.

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Arthur for Model Number JDB215OAWPO

I have the same issue as Mike Dishwasher has a heavy build up of material in cups. We have extremely hard wader in our home. I removed all parts to clean them and there was massive build up of detergent and water minerals. The filter seemed to be dirty on the inside but I could not open to clean completely. The dishwasher worked well for 3 months but is back to same issue. At this point I am considering buying a new filter and adding a water filter to the water line that leads to the dishwasher. Before I do so any way to fully clean the filter? Again all the micro filter sections are clearly blocked from the inside.

Answer

Arthur, Your best option is to replace the filter assembly WPW10192799 , you'll only damage it trying to clean it. The filter material is pretty fragile. The remainder of the pump components can be cleaned with a solution of hot water, and a product such as "lime Away" or "CLR". Allow the solution to soak for 20 to 30 minutes, then wipe it out with a rag. Repeat again if necessary. Installing a filter will be of some benefit, but a softener system would be better, and make sure the water temperature in the tub is at least 120 dgrs.F. on the first fill of a cycle. The hotter the water the better the detergent chemicals break down and dissolve.
