Gregory P Mansfield , OH January 01, 2017 Appliance: Maytag Portable Dishwasher MDC4650AWB0 Flappers on docking station were worn out and/or missing also the pump filter fabric was torn so a new pump filter was installed as well Dishes were 'gritty' with an almost invisible coating of specks smaller than grains of salt. Prior to ordering parts, I had to determine which part(s) needed replaced and which could benefit from a good cleaning. After viewing Appliance Parts Pros YouTube Videos, I removed the Main Manifold (snaps right off) including the Top Spray Arm. I discovered the Flappers of the Docking Station (AP6009888) were worn out and/or missing. I removed the Docking Station simply by popping the old one off the Main Manifold. The new one snaps right on (no tools needed) but prior to installing the new Docking Station, please remember to install the new Flappers. The second portion of my repair involved the Pump/Motor/Impeller area. The only tools required were pliers to remove the plastic Washer Arm Cap, which then allows removal of Lower Washer Arm. Also, a Number 15 (#15) and a Number 20 (#20) Torx screwdriver/socket were used to remove screws from the Filter Plate, Outlet, Impeller, and Filter Assembly. Upon inspection, I discovered that one area of the mesh/fabric screen of the Pump Filter (AP6016649) was torn. The replacement part part was ordered while all others were treated to a thorough and careful cleaning. Kudos to appliancepartspros.com! My parts arrived sooner than expected even though I chose Standard Shipping. I am very well pleased with Appliance Parts Pros instructional videos, their quick shipping, and their excellent quality parts. My dishwasher, even though more than 12 years old, is performing as good as new, as evidenced by my ultra clean dishes!! Joe W Sandy , UT April 16, 2018 Water pump operating even when empty no code set. First off, I am not an expert. I took on the job only after checking the operation of another smaller dishwasher that was not working correctly. That dishwasher is a portable Danby dishwasher, and some of you may be familiar with them. That dishwasher only needs a seal to be fully operational, the part itself is no longer available, but, I do have an answer and a close enough replacement that will do the same job. This dishwasher that I bought parts for belongs to my landlord, and we have an arrangement. "Under the title, what was the problem". water pump operating even when empty. The dishwasher was operating the pump because the float was no longer set right, the float (foot), sits on a switch that tells the computer when the machine is full of water. The float foot was missing the switch and allowed the switch to be closed at all times, the switch is under the machine, so you may need to remove a panel under the door to gain access to this area. You can manipulate the float, or have someone else do it to see what I mean. On this machine, what I found was that the float keeper had become warped due to what I expect was heater operation, and the plastic eventually slipped, and would no longer keep the float oriented properly. I removed the float, and the switch from this bracket. I then removed the bracket from the machine. (See tools). After examination of the part, I applied heat to it, "where the hinge is that keeps the float foot in orientation", and bent the plastic a good amount. {{{{{{{SUPER GLUE WILL WORK, BUT DON'T}}}}}}}}}}}}} Yes, I did think to use super glue and be done with this, however, using super glue will never allow the float to be installed or removed. I was fortunate in in that, I applied the right amount of heat, and pressure to bring this bracket back to proper orientation. If this did not work, my backup plan was to use small grade wire, or even a zip tie to keep the float foot where it needed to be. I figured all this out while the plumbing I had removed was sitting in a bath of CLR, because most of what I found was calcium deposits throughout. I bought the fine mesh filter because I could not clean it, the docking station was worn to the extent that it would not seal. CONCLUSION. After replacing the parts, I ran the dishwasher through a full cycle, (no dishes) substituting dish soap with CLR. Landlord is quite content after repairs completed, It does not run brand new, but runs better than it has in years. Under tools I listed other, other is torx bits ranged t-15 to t-25, plus 1/4 inch ratchet 1/4 inch deep socket, you may use or need instead a shallow 1/4 socket with extension. I hope this explanation helps anyone who, like my landlord, does not want to spend money replacing a dishwasher. Total repair in parts, less than 100 dollars. Ari M Charlestown , MA March 13, 2015 Appliance: Maytag Undercounter Dishwasher JDB1100AWS36 No water was circulating in the dishwasher At first I thought the motor had burned out, so I ordered a new motor. When I started to take the machine apart, I found that the original motor shaft attachment on which the impeller sits was made of nylon and had stripped; the motor was turning but the shaft attachment/cutting blade/impeller was not. So I ordered a new motor seal kit with the metal shaft attachment. Very fast and easy job (a little tricky to hold a screwdriver in the motor to keep it from turning and to reach into the machine to tighten the shaft attachment since I was doing it myself - I had to hold the screwdriver with my toes). Also found that the pump filter membranes had tears, so I replaced that part as well. Dishwasher (10 years old) now works like new. To do this, I turned off the electricla breaker, turned off the water to the machine, disconnected the water line to the machine, pulled the machine out, removed the internal parts to expose the motor shaft, tilted the machine backwards so it was almost at 45 degrees, put the screwdriver in the hole in the motor to keep it from turning and held it with my foot, then attached the motor shaft attachment with an adjustable wrench. Then I put on the rest of the parts. Read More... 25 People found this story helpful Do-It-Yourself Rating: Repair Time Estimate: Less than 15 minutes Tools: Adjustable Wrench, Pliers, Screwdrivers
