Carol Lewis for Model Number MDC4650AWB Does the Pump Filter Part #AP6016649 for this model have a screen on the bottom side? Mine does and it appears to be extremely fine gauge nylon. It has a small tear about 1/4" long in one section. Can the screen be removed and replaced? Is there a part for that? If not, will the filter still be effective with the tear? I super glued the tear together..
Answer Carol, The WPW10192799 pump filter/pump cover doesn't have a "screen on the bottom side" other than the metal screen in the center of the housing. The " extremely fine gauge nylon" screen could be considered a fine particle filter that would filter out the finer/smaller food particles and deposits from the wash water and direct them to the drain portion of the pump assembly to be drained and removed from the dishwasher. A small "tear" in the screen wouldn't affect the overall operation of the dishwasher, and having "super glued the tear together", you should be OK for a while. Read More...
